Is That Really Joe Bob?
Handsome Devil ain't he?

Joseph Robert Bailey, Sr., or Joe Bob, as known to most everyone, has had other radio broadcast experience since the late 80s. But he never pursued it on a daily basis until he met J.P. Morgan, the Morning Host on Big Country 107.3. Since then, Joe Bob has become a fixture on the Big Country 107.3 Hometown Morning Show, brought to you every Monday through Friday morning at 8:45am, CT, by Mike's Automotive, 3905 Towson Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72901. To tell them thanks, they can be reached at 479-646-9321.

Joe Bob's first job was as a printer and proofreader for his hometown newspaper. But, through the years, most of his family and friends have always known him either as a dedicated Law Enforcement Officer or retired Law Enforcement Officer. After receiving a four-year degree in Criminal Justice, Joe Bob's first job in Law Enforcement was as an Animal Control Officer. Because of that, and his upbringing, Joe Bob still to this day loves to look out for and take care of a host of animals, much to his wife's dismay.

Joe Bob quickly rose up the ranks, being assigned to various positions until he was finally made a detective and, eventually, supervisor. When asked why he never made Captain or ran for office Joe Bob replies, "I just never wanted all the headaches that any of those positions came with. I'd rather spend my spare time with my family, not in some office filling out paperwork."

And family is something that Joe Bob is all about. Because of his exposure on Big Country 107.3 many listeners have been privy to various stories and anecdotes about Joe Bob's wife, Edith; Joe Bob Jr., and of course, the pride of grandpa's eye - Joe Bob Junior, Jr. - or Joseph Robert Bailey III for those of you keeping count. Interspersed throughout are also stories of Joe Bob's daughter Bobbie Jo and other members of his family who, most of the time, wish not to be revealed, for privacy reasons.

Joe Bob's parents, both in their 80s, are still a constant source of love and inspiration. Joe Bob and Edith each have family scattered all over the U.S. and beyond. Every year, when they visit some of these family members, listeners of Big Country 107.3 are able to hear Joe Bob call in from such places as Alabama, Florida, Missouri, Minnesota, and more, giving advice on what to avoid, where to shop, sites to see, and generally making most of us wish we were on vacation with him and Edith too.

Joe Bob's hobbies include, but are not limited to: reading, gun collecting and shooting, cooking (especially fried fish and grilled steaks) and watching shows such as CSI (all of them with NY being his favorite) Criminal Minds, COPS and America's Most Wanted. But his biggest hobby is spending time with Joe Bob Junior, Jr. They fish, hunt, play ball and do most everything together, when they can. They've even been known to sit down and watch "Jaker's!" together - a kid's show on PBS that many believe Joe Bob enjoys more than Joe Bob Junior, Jr.

And akin to what J.P. said in his bio about his wife, Joe Bob also says, "As long as every day I wake up and realize I am still with Edith, my life-long companion, I could not get any happier or luckier."

When asked why Joe Bob never makes any public appearances for Big Country 107.3 he says, "The main reason I don't go out in public on behalf of Big County is because I am not an employee of Cumulus Broadcasting. I just do the radio thing for the fun of it. But, another big reason, if not bigger, is the fact I was once in Law Enforcement and I like to keep a low profile now as far as showing myself in public is concerned. You know, just in case some whacko out there decides they want to get back at me for putting them away or something."

Joe Bob reminds everyone, "Lord willing and the electricity still on, I'll catch ya'll tomorrow right here on Big Country 107.3, KOMS"!
