Nine businesses from throughout the state have been named the 2007 inductees
into the Arkansas Small Business Hall of Fame and will be formally
recognized in a 6 p.m. ceremony Oct. 30.
Dr. Georgia Hale, interim dean of the College of Business, said she is
pleased to announce this year's honorees.
"The inductees represent a broad spectrum of Arkansas small businesses," Dr.
Hale said, "and all of them have phenomenal stories about their efforts. UA
Fort Smith is pleased to house the Arkansas Small Business Hall of Fame, and
we are proud to honor these nine companies."
To be honored, listed by city, are:
Batesville: Eagle Pest Management LLC, a residential and commercial pest and
termite control business, founded in 2001.
Crossett: U.S. Dunnage LLC, manufacturer of dunnage bags, founded in 2003.
Fayetteville: Rockwood Jewelry Co., a national supplier and distributor of
jewelry primarily for nonprofit fund-raising activities, founded in 2001.
Fort Smith: Entertainment Fort Smith, a monthly regional magazine, founded
in 2000.
Hot Springs: Good Earth Natural Foods Inc., a health food and vitamin
business, founded in 1998.
Little Rock: Two honorees: Little Rock Tours Inc., a charter and rental tour
bus business, founded in 2003; and Pyramid Art, Books and Custom
Framing/Hearne Fine Art, a gallery and bookstore with focus on
African-American artists and literature, founded in 1988.
Lowell: The Knife Co. Inc., doing business as A.G. Russell Knives Inc., a
designer and manufacturer of knives, founded in 1964.
Magnolia: MegaSack Corp., a national distributor of packaging materials,
founded in 2002.
The Oct. 30 event will be held in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft
Campus Center. Tickets are $25 each and are available by calling
479-788-7758. Reservation deadline is Oct. 23.
The Arkansas Small Business Hall of Fame was announced in a ceremony in June
2006 that included remarks by Linda Nelson, district director of the U.S.
Small Business Administration. The SBA was a founding participant in the new
Hall of Fame. Nelson will also speak at the Oct. 30 program, as will Dr.
Hale. Also on the program are Dr. Paul B. Beran, UA Fort Smith chancellor,
and Dr. Jim Beard, professor in the College of Business.
Purpose of the Arkansas Small Business Hall of Fame is to recognize the
vision, dedication, hard work and perseverance of successful small
businesses that have created notable value for their communities.
